Europe is the second smallest continent in the world. It occupies about one-fifteenth of the Earth's total landmass and is known for its highly irregular coastline. As the birthplace for Western civilization during Ancient Roman and Greek times, Europe has grown to become the home to distinctive civilizations throughout its fifty sovereign states. Currently, it has about 741 million inhabitants, with Russia being the largest and most populous country.
With the highest number of migrants from all regions around the world, Europe has roughly 225 indigenous languages throughout the entire continent. Despite this diversity, the largest religion practiced is Christianity.
